Bath, Bath Bombs

Agbogbloshie Bath Bomb

maxresdefault

So this year I took a trip to the Oxford Street store just after the summit to get my hands on all the exclusive goodies that were showcased there.

IMG_6471One that definitely stood out was Agbogbloshie. The mobile phone design, the vibrant blue colour and the smell is divine – it shares its scent with the Calacas range – a mixture of Lime, Neroli and Olibanum oils give a zesty, uplifting scent.

A somewhat fast fizzer, once the phone had disappeared I was left with a strong deep blue colour with greenish oil slicks on the top of the water. I didn’t expect this bath bomb to be very sparkly but in actual fact I was surprised to see there was a great deal of lustre floating around, even after getting out my skin definitely had a slight shimmer.

The high concentration of the clearly visible oils meant that Agbogbloshie Bath Bomb not only left my skin smelling fresh for a long while afterwards, but also meant that my skin felt incredibly soft afterwards, something that again, I wasn’t expecting.

If you didn’t know, Agbogbloshie is the nickname of an area in Ghana’s capital city, Accra.  And is home to the biggest toxic electronic waste dumping ground on the planet, where the air smells like ‘burnt plastic and car tyres’. The waste disposal methods in Agbogbloshie release harmful toxins into the environment and into the lungs of those who are scavenging for valuable raw materials.

Solutions to make Agbogbloshie a greener, cleaner place are already starting to get underway and by talking about this issue at the Summit and releasing this bath bomb hopefully increased attention will see some change in the near future.

Lush have a great article on their website about this very issue. Read here.

Hopefully Lush will bring back this bath bomb again in the future, as I would definitely buy again, and definitely recommend it.
