Shower, Shower Gels & Creams

Assassin Shower Gel

To be honest, I think this is one of my favourite ever shower gels. It’s so unexpectedly amazing in every way. I won one as part of competition in store and I received it and thought it smelled okay, but after using it time and time again, I fell in love. Much like a deadly assassin, this gel silently made its way into my all time favourite Lush products.

Lets start with the scent. It’s quite woody and mossy, yet still quite fresh and natural. A fab five of Oakmoss Absolute and Cypress, Pine, Lemon and Patchouli Oils. The Oakmoss is definitely the most pungent out of the five, adding an earthy tone which makes Assassin remind me of being in damp, overgrown forests as a child, exploring and camping in the woods.

The Pine and Cypress oils add a wooded, fresh, almost sweet scent to the earthiness of the Oakmoss, which compliments it well. It’s easy to make a comparison with the Grass family scent, yet Assassin seems a little sweeter. The Lemon and Patchouli are somewhat undetectable yet still add subtle base notes to the fragrance.

I was really pleased at how the clean-feeling scent stays with you through most of your day, I found myself still smelling my arms after my morning shower well into the evening. I find that it’s really great for grounding and focusing the mind away from life’s stresses and distractions.

Another wonderfully surprising feature is how moisturising Assassin is. One of it’s main ingredients happens to be Agar Agar Gel, and even after reading the ingredients list, I still didn’t expect it to be as softening as it is. Agar Agar is a jelly like substance derived from algae, which like seaweed, is extremely good to nourish and hydrate skin. My skin honestly felt beautiful after every use.

When I went to Spain in the summer of last year, Assassin was the shower gel I took with me; and like most of us fair-skinned British denizens, I got rather sunburnt because I clearly wasn’t wearing enough Sesame Suntan Lotion. Assassin Shower Gel contains Chicory and Rosemary infusions, both of which are really effective at soothing and calming any irritation or any redness, and boy did it help with my sunburn! I was really thankful it was the one I bought with me!

Unfortunately Assassin was a limited edition Lush Kitchen product so the thought of never being able to experience a shower with it again is super upsetting. Fingers crossed that like with so many other discons and limited editions, Assassin makes a return to the website (or shelves?!) some day.
