Ah, The Experimenter. One of Lush’s most colourful bath products ever. I feel like it’s one of those products that you have to have tried at least once. Starting life as a piece of abstract audio and visual art created by the talented folk at Lush Digital. Click this link to watch it, it’s so cool! The Experimenter Bath Bomb was created as a way of customers experiencing said art in their own bathtubs! Originally an Oxford Street exclusive, it’s now one of the most popular products featuring in every store.
Shaped like a hexagonal prism, although if we’re really being picky it’s accurately called a tetradecahedron with it’s fourteen sides, it really stands out amongst Lush’s spherical bombs. To date Lush have only created (to my knowledge) two bath bombs in this shape. The Experimenter, and a Christmas exclusive bath bomb called Magic.
The Experimenter has quite a smokey, almost spicy scent to it. The top note being grounding, comforting Vetivert Oil, mixed with uplifting sweetness from Tonka and Vanilla. It’s perfect for those days when you just want a warming, relaxing, yet still colourful and exciting bath.
A great thing about this particular bomb, is that when placed in the water, it’s always so unique and different depending on how it’s put in because of the five strong, bold colours. Once in the water, each colour disperses and swirls away, creating a bright visual display.
The colour you’re left with once all the colours have mixed is a murky blue/green colour, which is somewhat disappointing, but it’s definitely worth it to see the start of the fizz.
Adding to the visual experience, The Experimenter is also quite a fast and loud fizzer, especially with the addition of Popping Candy which snaps and crackles towards the end of the fizz. The scent also lasts throughout the duration, helping you unwind and relax too.
After your bath-time experience, you’re left with smokey and sweet smelling skin which lasts for a long while and a subtle shimmer from the glitter as well.
Check it out on the Lush UK website, and definitely purchase if you’ve yet to try it, here!
