It’s only right to kick off the Christmas range with arguably Lush’s most iconic scent. Snow Fairy is so popular, Lush bring it back Christmas after Christmas and I really doubt they’ll ever stop, unless they want to face the wrath of hardcore Snow Fairy lovers that is.
I first tried Snow Fairy years and years ago, before I even became that into Lush. I was showering at a friend’s house and she had a bottle in her bathroom and allowed me to use it. I must admit, I didn’t think much of the smell and didn’t really understand the hype that she said came with it, but I used it nonetheless. Now I work for Lush I can definitely see that there’s SUCH excitement surrounding this Christmas exclusive. Customers come in all year asking if it’s back yet, even in like, March.
This bright pink shower gel has been out for basically forever and delivers a powerfully sweet smelling scent of candy floss, bubblegum, pear drops and sugary sweets. It’s not just sweet. It’s ridiculously sweet, a little too sweet for me even, so I’m sorry to say that I’m not the biggest fan of Snow Fairy.
It’s actually scented with Synthetic Musk, which is a fragrance compound with an intoxicatingly sweet scent. Lush use synthetic musk as opposed to natural musk because natural musk is mainly extracted from the glands of a musk deer, an endangered animal living in upper regions of Eastern Asia, and also from other animals. The musk trade is incredibly cruel and rightly, Lush aren’t here for it and they produce it synthetically.
Although it’s no thicker than most of Lush’s shower gels, Snow Fairy really lathers up well and covers you in silky bubbles which do feel really lovely and sufficiently soften your skin.
When in use, the scent fills your bathroom and lingers in the air after. It really stays on your skin for a long time after too, leaving you smelling sugary sweet all day. This shower gel is also filled with shimmering blue lustre which looks really iridescent in the light. You just gotta shake it up every now and then as it tends to settle at the bottom.
Snow Fairy is something that I feel everyone should try once, just because it’s so iconic. You’ll probably love it. However, and maybe it’s because I’m so over the excitement, Snow Fairy is nothing more than a really standardbody wash to me. No tea, no shade, no Snow Fairy coloured lemonade.
