Golden Pear Soap

This beauty was first released as part of the Christmas range last year, was really popular and was definitely one of the stand outs to me and a lot of people I know. Luckily for us, Lush realised this and bought Golden Pear back for a second year.

I’m not sure what it is about a sparkly gold coloured pear that’s just so festive but it really is! It looks great sat in a soap dish and is a nice way to decorate your bathroom for the holiday season! The clove embedded on top to represent the stalk is a nice little touch.

The best thing about this soap however, is the smell. It smells so beautiful and decadent. The inclusion of Pear Puree gives a lot to the scent, like a freshly baked pear it’s really indulgent and comforting especially with the addition of warming notes from Cardamom Oil and Sandalwood Oil. Furthermore, with the inclusion of Orange Oil, the scent is like warm fruit tarts covered in Christmas spices, it’s syrupy sweet and also richly fruity; I urge you to go to a Lush store near you and smell it for yourself. If you don’t love it then something is possibly wrong with you.

Unlike most of Lush’s soaps which begin with a base of rapeseed and coconut oils, Golden Pear’s main ingredients are Coconut Oil, Castor Oil and Cocoa Butter creating a creamy base that feels so luxurious and creates a beautifully thick and rich lather. Castor Oil is an antiseptic and conditioning oil easily absorbed by the skin whilst Cocoa Butter helps your skin lock in well needed moisture at this time of the year.

As well as being delicately cleansing, I really believe the Pear Puree adds to the decadent feel of this soap. Nourishing and repairing Almond Oil and Agave Nectar also feature for their moisturising and conditioning benefits.

Golden Pear is definitely one of Lush’s more moisturising soaps. The two halves of the pear are sandwiched together with a layer of rich Murumuru Butter which you can really feel as you rub the soap between your hands or across your body. I’m not a fan of the soaps that can leave you with that ‘squeaky clean’ feeling so it’s a real positive for me.

All in all, I love Golden Pear Soap. It really makes a perfect gift for my friends and for myself and I hope that Lush bring it back every year!

Did you know currently online they’ve got Golden Pear in a bath bomb format as well as a body spray? I’m gagged! Stay tuned for posts on both!
