A new product from this year’s Christmas range is Naughty Elf Bubble Bar. Now I know you’re thinking that it looks a lot more like actual Santa Claus than one of his elves but there we are.
If you had the opportunity to go to Lush’s 2018 Creative Showcase you would have seen elves designed to look like this product running about creating mischief!
Naughty Elf is a fairly large sized bubble bar, and is definitely meant to be used in (at least) halves, otherwise you get tonnes of bubbles like I did when I used the whole thing. It’s a pretty sturdy bar, you’ve really got to squeeze it hard to get it to crumble nicely.
Once the water has hit the crumbled bar it instantly turns bright red. Red’s not a colour you see often in a Lush bath product so I love it when there is one available. Although it’s very pigmented when the bath is shallow, as it fills it turns more into a shade of deep orange.
Naughty Elf is very strongly scented. It’s really a rather unique combination of scents that really don’t sound like they go together, being Lemon Myrtle, Mango Leaf, Violet Leaf, Petitgrain and Jasmine and actually isn’t a very festive fragrance at all, despite the festive design.
At first sniff it’s a sharp citrus scent that hits you first from the Petitgrain and Lemon Myrtle Oils. Theres definitely a background hint of the easily recognisable Violet Leaf Absolute but I can’t as easily pick out the Mango or the Jasmine amongst the other smells. I guess there’s a slight tropical vibe from the Mango but it’s very overpowered by the rest.
It’s actually very fresh and uplifting aroma, almost a little too much for this time of the year, especially with the Violet Leaf, I can’t help but think this fragrance is more suited to Spring or Summer.
In the water the scent is arguably just as strong as the bar itself is, if not even stronger. It fills the bathroom and gets you feeling good and brightens your mood for sure. As you can imagine with a scent so strong, it’s staying power on your skin after is one of the best.
After my bath I felt so cleansed and my skin really felt soft and smooth. Although Naughty Elf does contain a small amount of plastic-free glitter, it’s not noticeable on my skin after whatsoever.
Make sure you grab your hands on one before the end of the holiday season, as with all seasonal products, you never know when or if they’ll return.
