I was really excited about this bubble bar when I first saw it, assuming it would be sweetly peppermint scented like actual candy canes! However, surprisingly it’s not. It’s still sweet, but it’s not peppermint and contains Bergamot and Lemon instead.
Saying that, it’s still a nice addition to the Christmas bubble bars and being reusable, it’s probably one of the bath products that are a bit better for your money, a bargain at £3.95.
For my first bath with it, I used about a third and got a decent amount of bubbles. Unlike most bubble bars, Candy Cane works much like Magic Wand or a bubble brush, you simply hold it under the running tap water until you’ve got enough bubbles, leave it somewhere to dry and you can use it again! I’d definitely say if you wanted to, you could get around four or five baths out of one. Me? I got two, using my remaining piece for a second, more indulgent bath.
You could crumble it, but believe me when I say that it’s kinda difficult. Candy Cane isn’t meant to be crumbled, but feel free to give it a go! Maybe if you softened it in the water first it would crumble easier. Either way, you’re left with a tub full of bubbles and orangey-red waters below.
Usually, reusable bubble bars tend to lose their scent once in use, however Candy Cane’s fragrance remained throughout my bath. As previously mentioned, it’s a citrus combination of Lemon and Bergamot, yet nothing about the aroma gives you a clue to this. It’s more candy scented, like Snow Fairy or Creamy Candy yet a tad warmer and fruiter. I guess even if it’s not peppermint it’s still candy right?
The bubbles it creates are super soft and light. Whilst nothing in the ingredients list alludes you to Candy Cane being at all moisturising, that’s indeed the feeling on my skin, leaving me baby smooth afterwards.
Overall, whilst I enjoyed my bath with this bubble bar, there’s nothing about it that would make me upset if it didn’t return for Christmas 2019, however it’s popularity tells me it’ll probably be back.
