Body Conditioners, Shower

Christingle Body Conditioner

The word Christingle paints the picture of an orange with a candle stuck in it, like the kind that I’d carry at school, during an annual Christingle assembly back when I didn’t have a say in which religious activities I partook in. This idea makes you imagine a body conditioner with the same name would be warming and smelling of oranges, but that job falls to Buck’s Fizz. Christingle Body Conditioner is actually more literal with the word, as this minty fresh lotion definitely leaves a tingling feeling.

Like all of Lush’s body conditioners, Christingle starts with a base of nourishing oils and butters to add great moisture to the skin. Specifically, Jojoba Oil and Murumuru and Shea Butters. The addition of the butters gives the product a luxuriously buttery feel, much more than just a body lotion. The idea with a body conditioner, is to use it in the shower after you’ve washed and rinse it off. The heat from the water allows the product to melt deeper into the skin.

Christingle’s scent is purely minty, containing Peppermint and Spearmint Oils, along with Menthol Crystals as well. Menthol is the active component of mint and is revitalising, stimulating, cooling and soothing for skin. This trio of minty ingredients are what cause the tingling sensation on your skin when using this product which is effective against any skin inflammation or muscular aches and pains.

Be careful not to slather too much of the lotion on, one time I put so much on, the tingling got a bit too much and I felt like I was covered in ice, I couldn’t stop shivering! To be honest, it’s this reason why I believe this product is much more suited to summertime when you want to cool off. It’ll also be perfect for soothing sunburn.

Christingle also contains Grapefruit and Cassia Oils. Cassia is a relative of cinnamon and has a similar stimulating effect on the skin, whereas antiseptic Grapefruit is great for brightening the skin.

After using it, my skin is always visibly brighter and I feel much more awake and energised, so I often use it in my morning showers. It’s also very useful to keep a pot of it around, I recently burnt my hand cooking and it was the perfect thing to stop the pain and redness on my skin.

My next post will be about the naked version of Christingle so stay tuned!
