Limelight Toothy Tabs

When you think of Lush products, their dental care is often overlooked and is rarely something that customers are massively interested in. I think for most people, having good oral hygiene is, understandably, immensely important so parting with their trusty toothpaste is somewhat scary, incase other options don’t work as well. I know this was definitely a massive obstacle I personally had to overcome before aiming to make the switch.

There are many pros to using one of Lush’s toothy tabs over a regular tube of toothpaste. Landfill sites are filled with billions of toothpaste tubes yearly and as conventional toothpaste is predominantly packaged in plastic-coated, aluminium-lined tubes, they are rarely recyclable. Although yes, Lush’s tabs are packaged in a plastic bottle, both that and the lid are 100% recyclable in your local recycling points. Lush received a lot of backlash when it decided to stop packaging their toothy tabs in cardboard boxes, however the cardboard packaging didn’t allow the tabs to stay as fresh as they can be in plastic.

Toothy tabs also give customers the option to choose a toothpaste alternative that is free from fluoride and instead they use ingredients such as Sodium Bicarbonate which increases the alkalinity levels inside our mouths, keeping the breath fresh and Dicalcium Phosphate Anhydrous, which is a natural salt, also in the toothy tabs for its polishing and plaque removing properties.

In terms of Limelight, it contains cleansing and antiseptic Lime, Lemon and Mint Oils which give it the taste of Lemon flavoured candies and hard boiled sweets. Although it sounds somewhat sour, it’s really isn’t and is simply a different, yet still refreshing alternative to standard minty toothpaste. Whenever I use it, my mouth feels really fresh and clean!

Limelight also contains something called Baobab Fruit Powder, which gives the tabs a slight fizzing, sherbet-like feel when in use and is a nice touch. Maybe it’s something that could help younger children start using them!
