Lush have recently released a whole range of naked skincare, including four brand new naked facial oils. I’ve been using Full Of Grace for a long time now and I had been hoping for alternatives to try out! Well it seems my prayers have been answered and I couldn’t wait to try them all. Amazon Primer is designed to hydrate your skin but leave it matte and primed, allowing easier and more effective make-up application.
Amazon Primer contains many ingredients from the Amazon (hence the name). To moisturise, we have creamy Cupuaçu Butter from a project in Brazil where the fruits are actually collected along the banks of the Amazon river, protective Murumuru Butter and calming Andiroba Oil, also from the Amazon. You apply it by either warming it up in your fingers first and wiping the residue over your face, or like I do by smoothing the whole thing over your face as it is.
A starchy base of Arrowroot Powder keeps the skin matte and smooth and has been carefully chosen to give the best absorbency on the skin, and is what makes this product a good primer. Having used this with make up, I find it to be considerably better than Magical Moringa for the certain make up that I wear and actually suits Lush’s own Slapsticks rather well. It’s a lot more hydrating than Magical Moringa and although it does leave a somewhat dewy look behind, it does feel matte and allows your make up to go that little bit further.
The green colouring is completely naturally derived from Chlorophyllin and Gardenia Extract which also helps to counterbalance and neutralise any redness, as green and red are opposite on the colour wheel.
Amazon Primer furthermore contains a Lemongrass Infusion and an Alcoholic Tincture of Electric Daisies to tighten and tone, leaving behind clear and bright skin. Electric Daisies are tingling, have anaesthetic properties and are commonly used to ease toothaches. The compound responsible for these effects in the mouth is also responsible for relaxing the muscles of the face and therefore reducing the appearance of wrinkles when applied on the skin!
The fragrance is a little much for some people I’ve heard, but for me it’s just fine. A mix of Orange, Tonka and Rosewood give a woody citrus scent which you can definitely get used to! These three ingredients are from Brazil too.
I’ve been using Amazon Primer for a while now every morning in place of a moisturiser, even when I’m not wearing make-up. It’s effectively hydrating and a little really goes a long way so I believe I’ve found a new part of my skincare routine!
