If you haven’t heard of the TV show ‘Love Island’ then you’ve probably been living under a rock as it has really surged in popularity, especially since the revival series started in 2015. It follows a group of single people who have to find love and stay with their partner in hopes of winning. It’s really the ultimate in trash TV but it’s kinda one you can’t not enjoy. As ever, Lush love to try and stay on trend with youth culture so it’s no surprise they named a product after the show.
Love Island is a body scrub that’s slightly on the small side but is pretty inexpensive too. You can either use the whole thing each time or pinch little pieces off and I think the latter is better for longevity. You definitely don’t want to hold the product directly under the water as once it becomes too wet, it easily breaks apart and you don’t want to waste any! You can do what I did, and cut it up into quarters before getting it anywhere near the shower.
It’s made up of a mixture of Sugar, Sea Salt and Sand, which provide a vigorous scrub to remove dead skin and dirt. If you’re in need of a rather abrasive scrub then this might be for you as it’s a lot more exfoliating than the likes of Scrubee or Rub Rub Rub. Even with light pressure, I still found it scratchy and coarse on my skin, which to be honest did the job extremely well and my skin felt super smooth and polished. The scrub also contains Aloe Vera Extract, Cocoa Powder and Potato Starch, all of which will soothe any irritation left behind.
Love Island is scented with the Love Perfume scent, a scent described as being like sweet spiced apples mixed with sensual florals. The scent of Jasmine Absolute is definitely one of the strongest in the scent and is what gives off the deep, seductive side to the fragrance, alongside sweeter floral notes from Ylang Ylang and Rose. Whereas Bergamot and Lemongrass add a brighter, uplifting side and give the citrusy notes which complete the scent. I’m a big fan of Love so I’m thrilled to have another product in the range.
The scent is actually relatively strong as a whole product and it even grows in strength under the hot water as you get the product working, however sadly if you’re adding other scented products then it’s unlikely to stick around. Saying that, if you happen to have a Love Atmosphere waiting to be used, perhaps now is definitely the time to use it paired with this scrub.
Whilst you’re not going to get a great amount of uses out of one, I still think it’s a good product and its cheap enough that if you wanted more you can buy two or three at once. But if it’s something you’re really enjoying make sure you get back into a Lush store to grab some before stocks run out!
