Recently I found that I still have pictures of last year’s Valentine’s lip scrub from before I even started this blog that I never got round to posting! I still have a good half of my pot left and I think it’s only appropriate to post about it on the same day as this year’s lip scrub!
The Kiss was first released for Valentine’s Day 2015 and proved to be pretty popular, allowing Lush to bring it back for the next two years after that, and after trying it for the first time, it’s undoubtedly my favourite lip scrub of all time.
First things first, The Kiss isn’t your generic lip scrub that’s made out of Caster Sugar and Jojoba Oil. The Caster Sugar is still the main ingredient but the Jojoba has been replaced with Safflower Oil. Safflower Oil is considered as a great softener for the skin as it probably has the highest percentage of unsaturated fats out of all the oils, and in actual fact I do consider The Kiss to be a little more hydrating than other Jojoba Oil containing lip scrubs. Cocoa Butter has also been blended into the mix, adding to the moisturising benefits.
Another difference with this lip scrub is the inclusion of Sea Salt which not only helps with the exfoliation but it adds a saltiness to the product which is actually a really nice change. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m really not a fan of overly sweet lip scrubs as they can be really sickly after a couple of uses, but you don’t get that with The Kiss and it’s actually really tasty with it’s sherbety flavour. To use a lip scrub, you simply use a finger to apply some of the product to your lips, gently buffing away the dead skin and then lick it off to reveal soft and polished lips, so there’s absolutely no harm in ingesting the scrub, it’s why they’re so delicious! The Kiss also contains Sicilian Mandarin Oil as well as Almond Essential Oil to add a somewhat fruity aroma and flavour.
A cute little touch with this product is that the pot also contains these little red hearts mixed in with the scrub which is perfect for a Valentine’s exclusive. The hearts are completely edible so theres no harm in swallowing them too!
I’m a little gutted that The Kiss didn’t make a return this year but I guess Eve’s Cherry is a good replacement. I hope that perhaps we’ll see The Kiss again in the future because it’s going to be a real shame when my jar is empty.
