American Pie Naked Body Conditioner

After really enjoying my potted American Pie, I was eager to try the naked version too! I personally find that usually the naked versions last a lot longer than their liquid counterparts, predominately because you aren’t using a great amount of the product with each use.

Upon first sniff, the two versions smell almost identical. Both are a very gentle recreation of the original American Cream scent but I actually really like it that way and you still get all the wonderful creamy notes of vanilla and strawberry. In the shower however, I do notice that the scent is somewhat stronger with the naked and actually I find that the Lavender is more easily noticeable, intertwining with the sweet Vanilla Absolute and Benzoin Resinoid that make up the main component of the fragrance.

With a naked body container, you simply grab the whole thing and swipe it over your skin before putting it down and rinsing it off. The addition of the warm water allows the nourishing and moisturising ingredients to sink deeper and more quickly into the skin and I always find that I’m a lot more hydrated with a body conditioner than with a body lotion.

In terms of feeling, I’d actually say that I felt a lot more moisturised with this version. Perhaps it’s the addition of the Cocoa Butter, Japan Wax and Carnauba Wax (which help to keep the product solid) but it felt a lot more oily, yet in no way greasy. It was easily absorbed into my skin and felt effectively hydrating. Another change between the varieties is that this version doesn’t include any fresh strawberry, though I’m not sure it makes much of a difference.

Because of the difference in format, I’d recommend stepping out of the shower stream when applying this product, else it’ll quickly melt with the hot water and you really don’t want to waste any, plus it only makes it more messy.

The only thing that’s difficult with a naked body conditioner, and a lot of Lush’s naked products in general, is that storing them can be a hassle. I personally use the lids from Lush’s large black pots (225g) to sit my naked body conditioners on, which are actually the perfect size.

After towelling off, I found that my skin was radiating the comforting scent that I’m really starting to admire, which was a big step up from it’s potted sibling. Again, I could definitely smell more of the powdery floral notes at this point too.

As with the American Cream Shower Gel, I’m definitely preferring the naked version of this product! How about you? Let me know in the comments section!
