Cheer Up Buttercup Bath Bomb

I love it when a bath bomb truly makes you feel a certain way, whether that’s uplifted, relaxed, grounded, it doesn’t matter. As long as it has a powerful effect on my mood, then it’s a winner with me. As you can imagine with a name like Cheer Up Buttercup, this bath bomb is designed to elevate your mood and help you feel happy and cheerful.

Cheer Up Buttercup is about the same size as a Butterball, but it really packs a punch. It’s bright yellow, with a sprinkling of Blue Cornflowers on the top and has a citrusy, energising smell. It contains Lemon Myrtle, Lime and Neroli in the forms of essential oils to give it its scent. Lemon Myrtle Oil has a sunny and herbal fragrance as well as having antibacterial properties. It contains over 90% Citral, which is a key characteristic component of Lemon Oil, making both oils quite similar. Lime Oil is astringent and has an enzymic effect which helps to remove dead skin cells to get the skin glowing and toned while boosting the mood with its sharp, fresh scent. Neroli has an intensely green and floral scent with citrus characteristics and is one of the few essential oils to be scientifically proven to increase serotonin production in the brain, which makes us feel contented and cheerful. Cheer Up Buttercup is quite simply, very lemony and zesty.

Once in the water, Cheer Up Buttercup quickly fizzes away the yellow outer shell, revealing a hidden pink centre. It’s not very spectacular in terms of bath art, but the water had developed that same vibrant yellow colour within seconds, which even with the pink core, remained as bright even after the last remnants had dissolved. I’m someone who’s mood can be very affected and enhanced by colour, and whenever I bath with anything so bright and yellow, it instantly makes me feel happier.

What you might not realise about this bath bomb until you’re actually in the water with it, is that it’s full of Cocoa Butter! You can see the oils on the surface of the water and you’re bound to feel it on your skin. It’s for sure one of Lush’s most moisturising bath bombs and it made my skin feel super soft and nourished once I was out.

What you also might not realise, is that Cheer Up Buttercup is full of glitter, which looks gorgeous in the bright water and leaves a light glimmer on your skin after too.

There was also a lovely waft of the uplifting aroma coming from my skin for a good few hours after as a nice bonus! I loved how great I felt after my bath so I’d definitely recommend this powerful bath bomb if you’re ever feeling a little down in the dumps and in need of a pick me up!
