GRL PWR was the only bubble bar released for this year’s Mother’s Day and is obviously a shout out to the Spice Girls, because who doesn’t love them?
Seriously GTFO If you don’t.
This limited edition is a fairly large circular bubble bar, with blue writing on a pink base. Because of it’s size, you could definitely get a good four decent baths out of it, as with bubble bars you only need to use as much or as little as you want. GRL PWR also features a light, floral aroma of Ylang Ylang Oil, Cedarwood Oil, Bergamot Oil and Benzoin Resinoid which we last saw over Christmas in Princess Bomb Bomb.
All of the different components of the scent blend together really well but there’s distinguishable notes from each. There’s a sweet and floral aroma coming from the heady Ylang Ylang, a hint of fresh and uplifting Bergamot Oil and grounding and earthy Cedarwood gives GRL PWR a somewhat smokey touch which complements the sweetness well. Finally Benzoin Resinous adds a vanillary, wooded note. I find it’s a really relaxing and meditative scent so I was looking forward to this bath.
In the tub, GRL PWR was pretty easy to break into pieces. Because I’m extra I used the whole entire bar, which I will admit was perhaps a little much as my bath was overflowing with bubbles after a short while! The scent grew and grew with the hot water and steam in the room and filled my bathroom with the gorgeous fragrance. Parting the bubbles allowed me to see the colour the water had become, which was a light purply-pink.
Once I was in, I found that the scent was slowly but sadly becoming less and less potent, but the bubbles and the water felt wonderfully soft on my skin and I enjoyed a nice long soak. Afterwards, my skin felt smooth though I really did feel the need to use a body lotion and it felt somewhat dry. There was a strong reminder of the scent left lingering on my skin though, which I was happy about as I didn’t think there would be.
In conclusion, GRL PWR is a good bubble bar and definitely one to try, perhaps if it was more moisturising I would have liked it a lot more but that’s just my personal preference. I wonder if we’ll see it back next year?
