Stegosaurus Fun Egg Bath Bomb

This year’s Easter saw the release of some exciting new products. One interesting idea that Lush have had is their Fun Eggs, which are essentially two halves of an egg shaped bath bomb, with a piece of Fun inside them! You can opt for easter themed eggs with either a chick or a bunny inside them, or choose to hatch a dinosaur with either a Brontosaurus or a Stegosaurus inside. After already trying Brontosaurus Fun Egg and loving it, I was excited to use my Stegosaurus Fun Egg too.

Brontosaurus Fun Egg is comprised of a bottom blue half, with a top pink half featuring a spotted design and a piece of green fun inside, in the shape of a Brontosaurus. The Stegosaurus version is is alternately coloured with the top blue half having a striped design, and the actual fun model is coloured blue also. Each Fun Egg is tied up with a string of raffia to keep it together. Personally, Stegosaurus is my favourite out of the two. From looking at the photos of each dinosaur egg, this one looks like it produced a darker colour, but I think it may have just been the lighting.

One amazing thing about both dinosaur Fun Eggs, is that they share their scent with an old favourite bath bomb, Space Girl! Lush describe the scent as being like peaches and strawberries with evolving violet notes and I can definitely see where this description is coming from, although I find it much more sherbety, rather that fruity. It has uplifting Grapefruit and Bergamot Oils at the forefront of the fragrance, with a sweetness underneath that comes from the addition of Almond Essential Oil and a thread of violety notes throughout. I loved Space Girl so I’m so happy to see the scent being used again!

As Stegosaurus Fun Egg contains three different parts, you could easily save it for three different baths and for only £8.95, that’s pretty good going. But of course I used the whole thing at once.

I placed both halves in my bath at the same time, with the cute little dino sitting inside one. Immediately both halves sent beautiful streams of purples and blues into the water which danced around each other, continuing even when both halves had almost fully dissolved. It was spectacular to watch, both colours looked so beautiful together, and the resulting opaque bluey-purple water was lovely. It felt rather luxurious too, and whilst there’s nothing in the ingredients list that tells me it’s particularly hydrating, the water certainly felt super soft.

Each Fun Egg contains a whopping amount of popping candy and whilst I’ve experienced bath bombs that feature it before, this was seriously on another level and certainly contained much more than the likes of The Experimenter, it was so loud! There was also a hefty amount of sparking lustre floating through the water.

If you’ve used Lush’s fun before, you’ll know it’s a multi-use product. You can use it for soap, shampoo, shaving or even to make bubbles with, along with modelling it like Play-Doh of course. I used the Stegosaurus as my soap and it felt so soft and creamy as fun usually does on my body. I also found the piece of fun to be much stronger scented than the bath bomb itself. Once I was out, my skin felt silky and smooth and I could notice a faint, but distinct reminder of the lovely scent on my skin, along with a nice shimmer from the glitter.

All in all, I loved both these Fun Eggs. I wish they were around when I was younger because I used to be fully obsessed with dinosaurs and used to hate baths believe it or not! I still have to try out the more traditionally Easter-themed fun eggs so stay tuned! I’m excited!
