Easter 2019 saw the release of two bunny shaped scrubs with deceptively similar names, we have a brown chocolatey one called Cocoa and a white coconutty version called Coco.
Cocoa has a smell not too dissimilar to that of Cupcake Fresh Face Mask. It’s a comforting fragrance of Cocoa Powder along with sweet Vanilla and Cocoa Absolutes, which makes it smell like chocolate cake mixture! Cocoa also features Mimosa Absolute, which gives the scrub a fresh and floral undertone.
Both limited edition scrubs are designed to be used in the shower and feature Granulated Sugar as the exfoliant. Sugar is a great ingredient to use in a scrub because it can either be rough when dry, or more gentle when wet. In the shower, I find it better to break off a piece at a time, crumbling it into your hands before using it, otherwise it’s simply too abrasive for me as a whole, hard product. Also on that note, you don’t really want to let the whole product get too wet so it’s best to keep it out of the shower else it’ll become soggy and fall apart.
After I got through the initial pain of using a piece that was much too solid for my skin, I found that Cocoa turned into a nice, effective scrub. The scrub actually felt really creamy and luxurious, much different to the solid sugar scrubs I’ve used recently such as Love Island and Aurora Borealis and this is likely due to the addition of Cocoa Butter in the mix. The Columbian Cocoa Butter in this product comes from the Communidad de Paz de San Jose de Apartado, which is a north-western Colombian community committed to peace amidst violent clashes between left-wing guerrilla fighters, right-wing paramilitary groups and the army. Just one of the many incredible places Lush source and buy their ingredients from.
Cocoa also contains Aloe Vera Extract which is one of the best ingredients to soothe irritation and calm redness on the skin. Likewise, the three absolutes the scrub contains are known to have soothing effects on the skin too. These ingredients help prevent the skin from getting too irritated by the scrub.
I found that during the shower the chocolatey scent was really powerful and was really filling my senses whilst I was scrubbing my body, but sadly it didn’t remain on my skin very much after. My skin was super smooth afterward though, a feeling that was still very much there the morning after my shower.
To conclude, I really like this scrub, I can tell it’s going to last me a good four or five uses after the initial one so it’s pretty good value for money in my opinion. Grab one whilst you still can because the Easter range won’t be around for much longer!
