This year’s Easter saw the release of some exciting new products. One interesting idea that Lush have had is their Fun Eggs, which are essentially two halves of an egg shaped bath bomb, with a piece of Fun inside them! You can opt for Easter themed eggs with either a chick or a bunny inside them, or choose to hatch a dinosaur and get either a Brontosaurus or a Stegosaurus model. I loved the dinosaur themed eggs so I’ve been eager to try Chick Fun Egg and Bunny Fun Egg ever since.
Chick Fun Egg is comprised of a bottom yellow half, with an orange top half featuring a striped design and both halves are tied up together with a long string of raffia. Inside the Fun Egg sits a little piece of fun in the shape of an adorable chick. As each Fun Egg contains three different parts, you could easily get three different baths out of one and for only £8.95, that’s pretty good going.
The scent of these easter themed Fun Eggs is a fairly unique fragrance. Containing both Geranium and Peppermint Oils, you’d be forgiven if you’re not liking the sound of such a pairing but actually they compliment each other nicely in a sweet, refreshing scent. Geranium has a similar smell to Roses and is often used to give sweeter undertones to other floral based essential oils, whilst the Peppermint in this product is very muted, and if you were to guess what it contained by simply smelling it, I very much doubt Peppermint would be anywhere near your top guesses. It’s very much in the background of the scent, offering a refreshing and cooling note, with slightly herbaceous undertones.
In my bath I opted to use the whole thing by placing each half of the fun egg in the water like little boats, one carrying the cute little chick. Immediately and loudly they began fizzing and sending out yellow and orange colour into the water. Although I was hoping for something a tad more spectacular in terms of bath art, it was a good display and before long the water had settled into a deep orange. Each Fun Egg contains a whopping amount of popping candy and whilst I’ve experienced bath bombs that feature it before, this was seriously on another level and certainly contained much more than the likes of The Experimenter, it was so loud! Whereas both Stegosaurus and Brontosaurus feature a fair amount of glitter, neither Bunny nor Chick do.
If you’ve used Lush’s fun before, you’ll know it’s a multi-use product. You can use it for soap, shampoo, shaving or even to make bubbles with, along with modelling it like Play-Doh. I used the Chick as my soap and it felt so soft and creamy as fun usually does on my body. I also found the piece of fun to be much stronger scented than the bath bomb itself. Once I was out, my skin felt silky and smooth and there was a noticeable reminder of the scent lingering on my body.
Whilst I definitely preferred the space girl scented dinosaur Fun Eggs, I still had a great bath with Chick. I’ve still got to use up my Bunny Fun Egg too, so stay tuned for a post on that coming soon!
