I used to use Angels On Bare Skin all the time. It was one of the first Lush skincare products I really got into and I loved how it made my skin feel! I’ve since moved on to Herbalism as I find that it’s better suited towards my skin but I still love to use AOBS on occasion.
Angels On Bare Skin is actually inspired by an ancient medieval skincare recipe that was to be used by anyone wishing to be carried off by a knight in shining armour. Essential oils like Rose and Lavender were actually banned by the church because their effects on the mind were considered the devils work! Eventually, they discovered they had wonderful benefits for the skin too and were much more accepted.
Like almost all of Lush’s fresh cleaners, Angels On Bare Skin has a fairly crumbly texture, which you need to add water to, to turn it into more of a paste. AOBS contains Ground Almonds which creates a soothing milk when water is added and offers a lovely and gentle scrub. After adding water, work it into your palms to create the paste, then massage over the face and body before gently washing away. This cleanser also contains Kaolin for cleansing and drawing out the impurities in the skin.
Angels On Bare Skin smells strongly of Lavender, in its raw and natural state. On the skin, Lavender is a fantastic ingredient with many benefits. It’s soothing, balancing and antiseptic, making it one of the best ingredients for a cleanser suitable for sensitive skins.
Along with the Lavender, AOBS contains Rose Absolute, Chamomile Blue Oil, Tagetes Oil and Benzoin Resinoid which have been hand picked to further calm and benefit the skin. Rose is another fantastic ingredient that’s perfect for this cleanser thanks to its rejuvenating and toning properties too; it’s been used for centuries to heal wounds and scarring. Not just anti-inflammatory and protective but Benzoin Resinoid is also believed to stimulate the blood flow.
I find AOBS is the ultimate in balancing and resetting my skin. If I’m ever using too many products on my skin (which lets face it, I often am) and chopping and changing my routine, I’ll always go back to Angels On Bare Skin for a nice clean slate to soothe and repair. I find it makes my skin feel much more refreshed and calm and any spots I may be living with soon disappear.
If you’ve never given this cleanser ago you might want to. Because it’s so gentle, anyone can try it! It might be the perfect one for you.
