Body Scrubs, Shower

Cookie Dough Body Scrub

Alongside the six brand new and limited edition shower gels Lush released online this month, they also released a body scrub designed after the currently Liverpool exclusive lip scrub Cookie Dough. After absolutely living for the lip scrub, I just had to pick up Cookie Dough Body Scrub.

As soon as you pop open the lid, you’re immediately greeted by a warm, nutty aroma that to be honest, reminds me of marzipan, cherry bakewells and buttery caramel more than actual cookie dough. But it’s still a mouthwatering and indulgent scent that just makes me want to grab a spoon and eat it, it looks lust like chocolate ice cream too! Compared to the lip scrub, it replicates the scent well but I find the body scrub’s aroma is a lot deeper and stronger.

The scent is actually made from a number of different ingredients. Vanilla Absolute gives a strong sweet and comforting aroma with Almond Essential Oil, Hazelnut Oil and Pistachio Oil adding those nutty undertones. Balsam Fir Resin has a unique fresh and woody scent whilst Cocoa Powder and Carob Resinoid offer a rich and chocolatey ‘baked’ aroma.

Whilst Lush have chosen to call this product a body scrub, I’m tending to think of it as more of a body cleanser, as I don’t really think it’s exfoliating enough to warrant actually being named a body scrub. It contains a generous amount of Granulated Sugar and Fine Sea Salt but its consistency feels much more doughy, like that of a fresh facial cleanser rather than the likes of Rub Rub Rub.

Due to this unique texture, I did find that cookie dough took a while to get used to. I scooped out a piece but really had to press it into my skin under the water to get it going. I actually preferred to roughly work it between my hands before smoothing over my body. The lather it produces is one of the creamiest I’ve ever experienced from Lush and once it was really working it felt so velvety and luxurious on my skin.

Pistachio and Hazelnut Oils are highly nourishing and protective for the skin. Nut oils are rich in vitamin E to support the skin’s overall health and oleic acid, which is an effective emollient, locking in moisturise. Integrated with soothing Aloe Vera Extract and skin softening Cornflour and Cocoa Powder, it really feels sublime.

As if this wasn’t good enough already, I was practically salivating in my shower because the scent’s strength doesn’t falter whatsoever. It fact, the sweetness really fills your senses as you’re smoothing it over your body and it sticks to the skin unlike anything. I was honestly still smelling it hours after my shower. I’m so impressed and so happy.

In conclusion, Cookie Dough is a fabulous product. I wish it was a little more exfoliating as I don’t really notice a difference where that’s concerned but if you’re wanting a gentle and light scrub then it might really work for you. Other than that, I’m in love and I reckon it’d make a great addition to the year round range. There’s definitely space for it!
