Lavender Vida Loca Soap

If you think of lavender and Lush, I bet 99% of the time you’d automatically picture the likes of Sleepy Body Lotion and Twilight Bath Bomb or the rest of that scent range. Whilst incredibly popular and definitely lavender based, they don’t really offer a ‘true’ lavender scent. I think a lot of people forget that Lush do other lavender scented products outside of the iconic range, such as A French Kiss Bubble Bar and this soap, although sadly now discontinued.

When cut into discs, Lavender Vida Loca really looks gorgeous and is one that can make an entire room smell of its aroma. Containing an infusion made from Lavender Flowers, Lavender Absolute, French Lavender Oil, and actual Dried Lavender Flowers, this soap is obviously Lavender-scented through and through. Each sniff of the soap conjures up fields of purple bushes basking in the sunlight and I find this raw lavender smell really soothing. The soap also contains Chamomile Blue Oil, but it’s hard to notice it in the scent and I’d argue it’s simply there to compliment and strengthen the herbal aroma as a whole.

Lavender is well known in aromatherapy for its relaxing and calming fragrance. Ancient Egyptians used it to help achieve a ‘state of serenity’ whilst the Romans used it to combat headaches. Today, researchers have proven how potent Lavender is when used as a natural remedy to ease anxiety and worries and to promote a more restful sleep.

Lavender is also well known for it’s great benefits when used topically on the skin. It’s not only naturally antibacterial, it’s also balancing and very soothing too, which is why you’ll find it in the likes of Dream Cream Body Lotion to really calm irritated and sore skin.

As a soap, Lavender Vida Loca works perfectly at cleansing. Personally I find it leaves my skin a little too ‘squeaky clean’ to use on my body but for my hands it does just fine and it leaves its beautiful fragrance lingering on your skin for a good while after too, which is a nice bonus.

Did you know that this soap used to be called Serendipity? At first I hated the name change but it’s really grown on me!

As I mentioned, Lavender Vida Loca was recently discontinued to make room for the new Sleepy Soap. Don’t get me wrong, Sleepy Soap is gorgeous and I can’t wait to write a proper post about it but I feel it’s a real shame for fans of raw lavender scents like this one.
