Black Stockings Body Tint

Black Stockings is an interesting product, usually seeing a rise in popularity during the warmer, sunnier months because essentially it’s a great way to boost a tan by giving your skin a gentle bronzed glow.

As a solid product, Black Stockings contains a blend of Cocoa and Shea Butters, which make it similar to a massage bar and you use it in the same way too. Unlike a standard massage bar however, Black Stockings is highly pigmented and contains a high amount of plastic free glitter which leaves behind a radiant bronze colour on your skin.

I was initially nervous to use this product the first time, as Lush note that it’s especially good for darker toned skin, my pale complexion was slightly worried I’d look like I’d had an awful fake tan job. I find that when rubbing it across the body, because it’s pretty solid, it’s a good idea to let it warm up slightly first, but when it gets going it leaves a strong golden glow behind it. You definitely want to make sure that you massage in the residue, just to maximise an even application.

To be honest, the difference on your skin after using one of these bars isn’t massively noticeable and even on my pale skin it doesn’t look at all much. I do much prefer to use Black Stockings when I’ve already got a slight tan just to make it look more even and to boost it’s radiance, but even without a tan it gives a shimmering, healthy glow. I also like to use Black Stockings on my face from time to time as a contour stick or a bronzer, again usually when I’m more tanned than usual. I find that it doesn’t irritate my skin whatsoever and actually it sits nicely on the skin and over other make up. It can feel heavy though, so try to use it sparingly.

Although not it’s main feature at all, but Black Stockings contains Cinnamon Leaf Oil, Pimento Berry Oil and Sweet Orange Oil for a warming and slightly spicy scent. I don’t actually find the scent has much strength when applied to the skin but that’s probably a good thing if you were using it on the face.

In conclusion, since I first tried it, Black Stockings has become a summer staple because ashamedly I love to look more ‘sun-kissed’ and less pale. Sadly, it does rub off on clothing so it’s not really something you can wear with white and light colours but I do find that even after a dip in the pool it’s still fairly present!
