Reminiscent of indulgent hot chocolate sticks, hot oil treatments are great for a cosy, pampering night in. Damaged is great for hair that is just that, whether it’s caused by heat, chemicals or bleach, this hot oil treatment is full of ingredients to replenish and restore.
If you’ve not used one of Lush’s hot oil treatments before, you fill a mug or empty black pot up with boiling water and stir the wooden stick in until the product has completely melted. Allow the treatment to cool for 20 minutes before applying to dry hair. Sit back and relax for another 20 minutes and shampoo and condition as normal. It’s very simple, it even has a little guide on the wooden stick should you get confused.
Damaged contains incredibly nourishing ingredients that deeply hydrate and moisturise the hair such as Olive Oil, Avocado Oil and Almond Oil. Olive Oil is amazing at improving the tensile strength of the hair and protecting it; Almond Oil is conditioning as well as being full of vitamin E and lastly rich Avocado Oil is a wonderful ingredient which is protective, strengthening, conditioning and full of vitamins, nutrients and minerals. These ingredients are also fab at boosting the hair’s shine.
Damaged Hot Oil Treatment further contains Guar Gum (like in most conditioners) to reduce static for sleeker, more manageable hair; Fine Sea Salt to add some texture and lift and lastly Vanilla Absolute, which is more for it’s fragrance but it is additionally soothing and antibacterial on the skin and scalp. The sugars in vanilla also act as a humectant, preventing moisture loss.
I think Damaged smells really great, like icing sugar and vanilla ice cream, but it’s a very subtle scent and sadly doesn’t linger in your hair after using it. But let’s face it, you shouldn’t be choosing a hair treatment based on smell anyway!
My hair is naturally more on the oily side of things rather that dry and as far as I know isn’t actually damaged at all, so in all honestly I probably didn’t need to use this product, but I’m glad I did. I tried it for the first time the other night and my hair felt so soft and rejuvenated afterwards, without being too greasy or heavy as it was easily washed out. With my medium length hair I only needed to use half a mug full of the treatment but it will last up to four weeks so I can use it another time soon!
In conclusion I’m super impressed and my hair is definitely thanking me for using this treatment. If you’re looking for a little pick me up, Damaged might be a great option to go for!
