Avocado Wash Shower Gel

The scent of Avocado Co-Wash has long been loved by Lushies and staff, but it’s only recently that Lush have actually started to notice and bring out other products with the same zingy sweet citrusy scent. The first of these was in the form of a shower gel called Avocado Wash.

Ugh I am literally enamoured by this scent. It’s high-key one of my all time favourite scents from Lush and ever since smelling a lump of Avocado Co-Wash for the first time I’ve been desperate for other formats.

As already mentioned, it’s a zesty, juicy sweet citrus scent that’s made up of Bergamot, Litsea Cubeba and Olibanum. Not widely heard of but Litsea Cubeba Oil is extracted from the fruits of a small evergreen tree and has a sweet lemony aroma similar to Lemongrass. Skin-refreshing Bergamot has such an uplifting scent which encourages wellbeing and protective Olibanum adds a slightly more fruity note compared to it’s zesty partners. I’d actually argue that the scent is slightly more powerful in this version than it’s predecessor. Which is only a bonus.

Although this bright green shower gel has quite a thin consistency you’d be mistaken if you didn’t think it had ample skin softening properties. Like it’s hair care counterpart it’s full of Avocado Oil and actual Fresh Avocado. Avocados are incredibly nutritious and are full of a beautiful unsaturated oil that’s perfect for rehydrating old, damaged and dry skins, not to mention that Avocados are full of vitamins to help improve the skin’s appearance. Carrageenan Extract, derived from Seaweed also gives Avocado Wash a more luxurious feeling despite how runny it is.

When in use the shower gel foams up nicely, creating a beautifully fragrant lather that’s so irresistibly moreish and leaves you so refreshed and feeling clean, and nourished skin that smells divine all day. I just want to bathe in it all day it’s really that nice! Though saying that you really don’t need to use much each time, a little really does go a long way.

After every use, the shower gel does have a tendency to separate due to the high oil content, but please don’t let that put you off using it, you just need to give it a good shake before you use it again and it’ll be as good as new.

Frankly I think this shower gel is one of the best Lush have ever done and it 100% deserves to be in their year round range. I’d also very much like other products featuring this marvellous scent please Lush.

Dark Angels Fresh Cleanser

Angels On Bare Skin’s darker cousin, Dark Angels is the perfect cleanser for those who like a deeply cleansing and exfoliating scrub.

img_0841

Like all of Lush’s fresh cleansers, to use Dark Angels you just need to take a pinch of the product and add water, then mush it into your hands until it creates a paste and then use it to cleanse. Now I’m gonna say it’s best to use Dark Angels in the shower and in the shower only! All of Lush’s fresh cleansers can be messy but Dark Angels is for sure the most messy due to the fact that it’s literally jet black in colour and can stain light coloured carpets and towels.

Dark Angels is perfect for a deep cleanse and to remove blackheads and help prevent spots. It contains Rhassoul Mud which is cleansing and softening and also combats excess oils and sebum on the skin’s surface meaning this cleanser is great for anyone with oily and blemish prone skin.

Black Sugar and Powdered Charcoal are the scrub in this product. The different sized exfoliants are really effective at removing dirt and dead skin cells. Charcoal and Sugar are excellent natural alternatives to plastic microbeads which are incredibly damaging to the environment.

Avocado Oil and Vegetable Glycerine help to keep the skin nourished after all the scrubbing, meaning Dark Angels doesn’t leave the skin feeling dry and raw. Avocado Oil is also full of vitamins which help the skin cells regenerate giving you a fresh and bright complexion.

The earthy scent is a mixture of calming, meditative Sandalwood and Rosewood Oils. it’s a little strong for some people but you can look past that for how effective the product itself is. Sandalwood and Rosewood are also effective at calming and soothing as well as balancing the skin’s sebum production out.

Skin Drink Facial Moisturiser

Thirsty skin? Give it a protecting drink!

img_6683

Skin Drink does exactly what it says on the tin, or rather pot, it quenches thirsty and dry skin.

The main ingredients are all expertly moisturising, meaning this cream is packed with nourishment. Sesame Oil is rich in vitamin E which helps the skin to stay soft and firm, it also contains a natural preservative called sesamol, helping keep this product free from oxidising and going off. Fresh Avocado and Almond Oil are both full of vitamins too, giving the skin the nourishment it needs and helping with cell regeneration. Cocoa Butter tops off the list with it’s perfect softening properties.

Skin Drink also contains both Aloe Vera Extract and Aloe Vera Gel, meaning this moisturiser is very effective at helping soothe any irritation and redness on the skin. Rose Petal Infusion is also soothing and calming but is also toning, which is good for reducing the size of pores.

The scent is a very subtle floral trio of Neroli, Evening Primrose and Rose, meaning it’s not too strong for anyone with sensitive noses. Evening Primrose is also a wonderful ingredient helping to protect and lock in the skin’s moisture.

The consistency of Skin Drink is quite thick and quite buttery as opposed to greasy or oily so it glides on smoothly and get to work straight away. Due to the high content of Sesame Oil, after it sinks in, it leaves an almost unnoticible protective layer on top of the skin which is perfect for combating the elements or for skin that gets easily damaged from wind or the cold.
