Each Christmas, Lush temporarily discontinue the popular Butterball Bath Bomb and replace it with a more festive version, the Butterbear!

Often customers get confused and/or believe that the two products are different but real talk, Butterball and Butterbear are the same thing. Facts are facts America, it’s just a different shape.
Butterbear still features the same sweet, reassuring scent as Butterball, which is a mix of sweet Ylang Ylang Oil with a vanilla-like Synthetic Musk. Ylang Ylang Oil is used in aromatherapy to relax the nervous system and relieve anger, panic and fear, giving you a leisurely bath tub experience. There is a slight amount of Cocoa Powder in the mix, the only difference in versions, but it’s mainly for the colouring around it’s nose and doesn’t add much to the scent.
Once popped in the water, it quickly fizzes away, shooting out the mini chunks of brown Cocoa Butter into the water, ready to be absorbed by the skin. Once you’re in you can feel it almost straight away in the bath as well as a long time after you’ve left it, as it leaves your skin feeling super soft and smelling sweet! Unfortunately the water doesn’t really change much in terms of colour, there’s just a slight pale yellow tint.
Both versions of this product are really great for younger skins and sensitive skins alike, due to the simple and gentle ingredients list.
The different shape is a cute change for Christmas, and they actually prove to be pretty popular each year. But it is still just a plain old Butterball, which I do actually find quite boring unless it’s paired with something else!
