Strawberry Whip Soap

Strawberry Whip was a new product for Valentine’s Day and isn’t it super cute? Lush were all about a ‘fruits of love’ theme for their 2019 Valentine’s Range and this soap definitely fits that brief!

This particular soap is interesting, because it’s actually three soaps in one! The red and green parts actually have separate formulas, although both use the same base of Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter and Castor Oil, the red part is the only part that actually contains strawberries! Then there’s a softer ‘whipped’ soap mix inside the red part, which you can see in my photos!

The whipped soap has the addition of Aquafaba whipped up into a cream. Aquafaba is the name for chickpea water, which shares a lot of properties with egg whites allowing it to be whipped in the same way. It further contains Cream Of Tartar and Xanthan Gum to stabilise, add thickness and keep shape, Silken Tofu to add moisture and seaweed based Agar Agar Gel for softness. The inclusion of this whipped part is definitely what makes Strawberry Whip a lot more moisturising and nourishing for the skin than a lot of other soaps.

Like I said, the red part contains actual Fresh Strawberries which are full of antioxidants which help improve the condition of skin. The Strawberries add a slight touch to the scent but the fruit on its own doesn’t have a particular strong aroma, so Lush help boost and recreate it by using other essential oils and ingredients.

It’s a trio of Benzoin Resinoid, Jasmine Absolute and Geranium Oil that help strengthen the strawberry scent and the result is a fragrance that’s floral, yet sweet and almost vanilla like, which mimics a true strawberry scent enough that you’ll definitely buy it, although it’s like strawberries mixed with roses. It’s the Jasmine and rose-like Geranium that add the floral notes to this product, whereas Benzoin Resinoid is easily what gives the more vanilla-esque sweeter notes. I really like the scent and it leaves my hands smelling great each time I use it.

I really love using my Strawberry Whip! It’s a great new soap and would do well if it stayed as a year round product I reckon! I really love the hidden whipped centre so let’s hope we see more of that in the future!

Oh, and although it was released for Valentine’s Day, it just so happens to be staying in stock up until the summer! So there’s still time to get one if you’re interested!

Strawberry Santa Soap

Now let me tell you, when these lil guys were delivered into the stores, some of them looked so ugly it was a crime to sell them, so I’m sorry if you got one of the less cute ones. Luckily, the one I ended up with isn’t so bad.

Strawberry Santa is exactly like product from 2015’s Christmas Range called Peeping Santa, though that was a bubbleroon and this is a soap, both were comprised of two red halves separated by a white middle section with eyes. In this version, the red section is a harder soap, fused together with a softer white soap that has a creamier, almost whipped texture.

The white section actually contains a high amount of Cocoa Butter to moisturise your hands, meaning that Strawberry Santa doesn’t leave you with too much of that squeaky clean feeling.

Just be careful when you’re using it that the two halves don’t separate, as it doesn’t really fuse back together very well.

Like Peeping Santa, this soap also contains the delicious Yummy Mummy scent which is a moreish and comforting fragrance which reminds me of sweet juicy chocolate coated strawberries. Strawberry Santa does actually contain Fresh Strawberries along with their seeds to give a gentle exfoliation. Olibanum, Bergamot and Geranium Oils complete the scent and give it deeper sweet musky layers.

Although fairly small, I feel like it’s going to last for a long while as it produces a generous lather with minimal effort each time I use it and leaves my hands gorgeously scented for a good while after. In the shower, I found that it easily soaped up my body and effectively cleansed. It also contains nourishing Peach Kernel Oil to replenish nutrients in the skin and left my skin looking visibly brighter!

I’m a big fan of this soap and I’m glad I could get my hands on it! Did you manage to get one? Let me know!

Ro’s Argan Gourmet Soap

Gourmet soaps are a little different from Lush’s regular soaps. Firstly they don’t have the standard base of Rapeseed and Coconut Oil, instead they have a base that’s unique to each soap. Gourmet soaps are a lot softer and creamier than the rest of the soap range meaning they are beautifully moisturising and conditioning.

In Ro’s Argan we have a base made from antioxidant Argan Oil which is sourced from women’s co-operatives in Morocco, this is what gives this soap it’s soft and squidgy texture and produces a smooth, creamy lather that conditions the skin, leaving it revitalised and refreshed. There’s also a slight stickiness to the lather which comes from the addition of Granulated Sugar.

Making up the signature Rose Jam fragrance we have cleansing Lemon Oil, toning Geranium Oil and obviously Rose Oil and Rose Absolute which are great for soothing damaged skin. Just having a piece sat in your bathroom really lifts the room as it’s so fragrant!

I personally love this soap. It feels really luxurious when you’re using it due to how creamy and lovely it is to wash with; and not just for hands either, I love using it on my body in the shower too!

Ro’s Argan Soap is really pretty to look at, it comes sprinkled with red and yellow rose petals which just add to the ‘gourmet’ value. And fun fact – this soap is actually a creamy colour which you can see when you cut into it, it just so happens to have the reddish colour on the outside because it oxidises with the air!

After using a piece of this beautiful soap you can feel the effects straight away and it leaves you with wonderfully smelling soft skin.

I really think the gourmet soaps are so worth it, they’re a little pricey compared to other soaps but they last a long time and you’re paying for the quality – something I’m more than happy to do.

This article here has a fab introduction to gourmet soaps and you can read more about Ro’s Argan specifically here.

Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner

Lush created this product in honour of Rowena Bird, one of Lush’s Co-Founders. Apparently she wanted both a skin conditioner to use after showering, and a product containing Argan Oil. Well Ro got both her wishes combined with this wonderful product.

A body conditioner is basically the same as a hair conditioner, but for your skin! You use it after you’ve already cleansed your body by smoothing it all over, massaging it into the skin and gently rinsing it off. Although it’s a quick process, you feel and smell the effects all damn day! It’s also the perfect product for people who don’t have the time or patience to put a body lotion on after the shower – just do it as part of the shower routine instead!

Ro’s Argan shares it’s scent with the Rose Jam range. The Rose Jam scent is made up of Rose, Geranium and Lemon. The sweet, floral rose is perfectly matched with the similar floral notes from the geranium, with a subtle zesty kick from the lemon oil, giving Rose Jam a surprisingly unique smell that leaves you feeling almost intoxicated and cheerful.

Much like Rose Jam Shower Gel, Ro’s Argan contains antiseptic and stimulating Cypress Leaf Infusion, which reawakens skin. It also contains antioxidant Argan Oil and Goji Berry Juice to help promote healthy cell regeneration.

For the conditioning values, Ro’s Argan contains vitamin rich Almond and Brazil Nut Oils which give the skin added nourishment. It also contains skin-softening and moisturising Cocoa, Shea and Cupuaçu Butters which make the product feel buttery rich and luxurious. The Brazil Nut also gives Ro’s Argan a slightly nuttier scent as opposed to other members of the Rose Jam family.

I find this product to be incredibly soothing, it’s one of my go to’s if I’m ever sunburnt or suffering with skin irritation because it really works wonders. The majority of the ingredients here, including Rose, Almond and Vanilla, are perfect for soothing and restoring the skin.

Although I do prefer to use my Ro’s Argan in the shower, I know a lot of people do use it after as just a body moisturiser instead. Personally I do think it works better as intended, just because it reacts well with the water which helps the cream sink in, but it really is just a personal preference.
