Crash Shower Jelly

Crash is currently one of a few ‘party exclusive’ products, which you can only get your hands on if you’re booking or attending a Lush Party. Luckily I managed to get one too!

Crash offers a classic and fan favourite scent that’ll really lift your spirits and get you in the celebratory mood. Of course, I’m talking about the Celebrate/Golden Wonder scent! Consisting of Sweet Orange, Lime and Cognac Oils, this fluorescent yellow jelly strongly emits a zesty and sweet aroma that hits you as soon as you twist off the lid.

The celebrate scent was originally designed to replicate the aroma of a glass of bubbly, and with fruity, bright, almost alcoholic notes, I can see why. Cognac Oil is extracted by steam distillation from dried, fermented grapes and that’s definitely where that ‘alcoholic’ aroma comes from. Lime and Orange add the zestier, more refreshing notes and come together wonderfully. I like to think of it as the scent of orange soda or a bucks fizz.

Lush’s shower jellies can be used in a multitude of ways, some people prefer to cut them up into smaller chunks for easier use, some people put them in a blender for a whipped like effect or if you’re like me you just use the whole thing as one big, wobbly bar of soap.

On the skin, citrus oils such as Orange and Lime have amazing cleansing, toning and antiseptic benefits. Citrus fruits usually contains enzymes which help breakdown excess oils and dead skin cells, leaving behind brighter, tighter skin. Crash also contains Fresh Orange Juice for this same effect. Cleansing with these fruit juices and oils means you also benefit from their antioxidant vitamin and mineral content too.

Crash further contains Luminescent Zinc Sulfide, which after spending a day absorbing light, will make it glow in the dark!

When I first used Crash, I was pleased to find that under the heat of the water, the juicy scent only amplified and really filled my senses, perfect for an uplifting morning shower.  The jelly itself, like always, was super moisturising and felt really lovely gliding over my skin. This is thanks to the very ingredient that causes these products to have their jelly-like consistency: Carrageenan Extract, derived from seaweed.

Although in its solid form and when in use, the aroma is very potent, I couldn’t really smell much of it on my skin after towelling dry surprisingly. Though I’m not a huge fan of orangey fragrances on my skin so I didn’t mind so much. My skin was soft and bright, so that more than made up for it. If you’re a fan of this scent, or any zesty scents in general, you’re definitely going to want to get your hands on a Crash!

Buck’s Fizz Body Conditioner

If you’re unfamiliar with this scent, it’s been released under a few different names in the past such as Celebrate, Bubbly and Snow Showers. Different fans will choose different versions of the scent to refer to it as but I personally call it Celebrate, so that’s what I’ll be referring to it as.

The Celebrate scent is mainly Brazilian Orange, Lime and Cognac Oils. Cognac Oil, derived from fermented grapes, has a very strong, alcoholic and fruity aroma, which is what gives the scent it’s likeness to champagne. What do you get when you mix champagne and orange? A Buck’s Fizz.

A body conditioner works much like a body lotion, but you use it whilst you’re still in the shower! After washing, scoop out some of the product and slather a generous helping over your body before rinsing off for beautifully moisturised skin. The Almond and Jojoba Oils in Buck’s Fizz deeply penetrate the skin’s layers carrying the benefits of the other ingredients with them. Murumuru Butter and Coconut Oil help give the product its velvety consistency and add to the moisturising effects.

Buck’s Fizz contains soothing Vine Leaf Infusion as one of its main ingredients for the calming and conditioning benefits which contains many essential vitamins to nourish the skin. It also contains oil from the seeds of the Kalahari Melon which is full of antioxidants and essential fatty acids to promote healthy, supple and moisturised skin.

Although being part of the Celebrate family, I’d argue that it smells a lot juicier, fruitier and somewhat sweeter than the likes of Golden Wonder. Whilst it does contain the trio of Brazilian Orange, Cognac and Lime, it further contains Pink Grapefruit Decoction, Orange Blossom Water and Fresh Orange Juice which I believe alter the aroma slightly.

It’s no doubt that Lush added these ingredients in for their antiseptic and antibacterial effects, and to boost the citrusy smell, but I’d prefer it more subtle.

Nevertheless, Buck’s Fizz definitely makes a lovely body conditioner which effectively hydrates the skin. The uplifting and energising scent is perfect for a morning shower and it does stick around for a while provided you aren’t too vigorous when towelling down, you don’t want to rub it away!

Stay tuned for my next post on the naked version of this product! Personally, it’s my favourite of the two!

Golden Wonder Bath Bomb

Golden Wonder is a Lush Christmas Classic and you can’t really call yourself a Lush superfan unless you’ve tried it. It truly is a wonder to behold, covered in a golden shimmer and topped with a beautiful cream bow, but the real treasure hidden in this present is the colour inside.

It features a fragrance that has appeared frequently in different formats and under different names over the years but is made up of Sweet Orange Oil, Lime Oil and Cognac Oil.

The scent is beautifully uplifting whilst remaining very light and not too heady. Being fruity, yet sharp its very reminiscent of champagne, sparkling wines and the very thing it’s meant to smell like – a glass of Buck’s Fizz. A perfect bathing companion for Christmas morning perhaps? Or maybe even New Year’s Eve!

Immediately upon contact with the water, it starts to fizz and almost instantly reveals it’s hidden colour, a beautiful and vibrant blue. It’s quite the fast fizzer and soon creamy whites and yellows from the outer shell mix with the blue, resulting in a gorgeous turquoise colour that glimmers with all the golden lustre floating throughout, looking like velvet dancing in an ocean.

Golden Wonder also contains little tiny stars that remain even when the bath bomb doesn’t, these float around in the water only adding to the magic.

The warming scent really remained throughout my bathing and also on my skin after, albeit very lightly. What was more prominently covering my body was the remains of the golden glitter, giving me a shimmer in the light which I personally love but can understand might not be for everyone. If that doesn’t appeal to you then all you need do is rinse yourself down with the shower head, like you might also have to do to your tub…

I’ve used a Golden Wonder each year for a number of years now and I love it every time, it’s a real iconic part of the Christmas collection and I think a lot of fans would be disappointed if it ever left!
