Cilla The Caterpillar Bath Bomb

Along with some other products including party balloon bubble bars and a llama shaped bath bomb, Cilla The Caterpillar is one of the exclusive items only available as gifts when having, or being invited to a Lush Party.

Sharing it’s scent with the popular Vanillary Perfume, Cilla features a fragrance that’s comprised of Jasmine Absolute, Tonka Absolute and Vanilla Absolute. The scent (in a previous bath bomb format) was originally inspired by extraordinary deserts at Heston Blumenthal’s restaurant, The Fat Duck. It’s a sweet and comforting, musky vanilla-led scent with touch of floral warmth and sensuality coming from the Jasmine. Although I often note the perfume to have powdery notes, in this format I notice it even more, yet it’s very true to the perfume even still.

Cilla is actually comprised of two halves, meaning you could opt to use it in two separate baths, but as always, I used the whole caterpillar at once.

Once popped into the bath, Cilla immediately starts frothing and foaming sending out different streams of green and orange into the surrounding water. I feel like these two colours aren’t often used by Lush but they do look really pretty, vividly contrasting each other. After a few moments, Cilla The Caterpillar had already half dissolved and began to slow down her display, leaving chunks of each half of her body bobbing below the surface, silently fizzing away.

Once she’d finished dissolving, I was left looking at reasonably pretty bath art sat on top of mossy green water. I won’t lie, my bath slightly resembled swamp water, which in turn reminded me of Shrek and now I can’t shake the idea that this is a bath bomb for the ogre himself. I guess it suits the caterpillar concept!

Even with this hilarious thought in mind, the scent really filled the room and made me feel at peace and comforted me like a warm hug. The water itself was super soft and soothing, making my skin noticeably silky smooth and renewed once I was out. Furthermore, the fragrance lightly lingered on my body, boosting the delicate perfume, should you choose to spray yourself after like I did.

Even with the idea of Shrek in my mind, I really enjoyed bathing with Cilla The Caterpillar and I can imagine anyone attending a party will love to receive one in their goody bags.

Crash Shower Jelly

Crash is currently one of a few ‘party exclusive’ products, which you can only get your hands on if you’re booking or attending a Lush Party. Luckily I managed to get one too!

Crash offers a classic and fan favourite scent that’ll really lift your spirits and get you in the celebratory mood. Of course, I’m talking about the Celebrate/Golden Wonder scent! Consisting of Sweet Orange, Lime and Cognac Oils, this fluorescent yellow jelly strongly emits a zesty and sweet aroma that hits you as soon as you twist off the lid.

The celebrate scent was originally designed to replicate the aroma of a glass of bubbly, and with fruity, bright, almost alcoholic notes, I can see why. Cognac Oil is extracted by steam distillation from dried, fermented grapes and that’s definitely where that ‘alcoholic’ aroma comes from. Lime and Orange add the zestier, more refreshing notes and come together wonderfully. I like to think of it as the scent of orange soda or a bucks fizz.

Lush’s shower jellies can be used in a multitude of ways, some people prefer to cut them up into smaller chunks for easier use, some people put them in a blender for a whipped like effect or if you’re like me you just use the whole thing as one big, wobbly bar of soap.

On the skin, citrus oils such as Orange and Lime have amazing cleansing, toning and antiseptic benefits. Citrus fruits usually contains enzymes which help breakdown excess oils and dead skin cells, leaving behind brighter, tighter skin. Crash also contains Fresh Orange Juice for this same effect. Cleansing with these fruit juices and oils means you also benefit from their antioxidant vitamin and mineral content too.

Crash further contains Luminescent Zinc Sulfide, which after spending a day absorbing light, will make it glow in the dark!

When I first used Crash, I was pleased to find that under the heat of the water, the juicy scent only amplified and really filled my senses, perfect for an uplifting morning shower.  The jelly itself, like always, was super moisturising and felt really lovely gliding over my skin. This is thanks to the very ingredient that causes these products to have their jelly-like consistency: Carrageenan Extract, derived from seaweed.

Although in its solid form and when in use, the aroma is very potent, I couldn’t really smell much of it on my skin after towelling dry surprisingly. Though I’m not a huge fan of orangey fragrances on my skin so I didn’t mind so much. My skin was soft and bright, so that more than made up for it. If you’re a fan of this scent, or any zesty scents in general, you’re definitely going to want to get your hands on a Crash!

Party Balloon Gold Reusable Bubble Bar

Incase you weren’t aware, Lush do parties. They’ve been doing them in stores for a while now, but recently Lush Parties had a revamp – which included some exclusive products you can only get if you’re having a party! Luckily I managed to get my hands on a couple all for myself!

Along with two adorable bath bombs, a shower jelly and numbered bubble bars, Lush created five different coloured balloon shaped reusable bubble bars. I could have picked pink, purple, silver or green but I went for the gold coloured balloon! As a reusable bubble bar, there’s no crumbling involved, you just simply hold the balloon under the running tap water until you’re happy to put it down and save it for another use. I reckon you could definitely get at least 3 or 4 decent baths out of one of these!

You may be thinking that’s not many for a reasonably sized reusable bubble bar but I’m afraid I didn’t actually get that many bubbles out of mine, and I used approximately half! I’m not saying there wasn’t enough, there was, I just expected more. Saying that, a few swishes of the bar through the bath water itself managed to create a fair bit more.

I also expected the gold glitter to be blended throughout the orange bar but it’s sadly just an outer coating, meaning you’ll be sparkle-less after the first bath. Luckily the water took on a bright orangey-yellow colour almost instantly after running over the product, which of course will feature in your remaining baths too.

Once I’d put the product down and prepared to jump in, I noticed that the scent was disappearing fast. The bubble bar itself is actually fairly potent with it’s zesty scent comprised of Lime and Grapefruit Oils. Both of these citrus aromas blends well with the other and although it’s not the most interesting and exciting of smells, it’s refreshing and uplifting.

After my bath, my skin looked fresh and radiant as Lime and Grapefruit Oils are known to be antiseptic and enzymically cleansing, breaking down any dirt and dead skin cells on the skin’s surface, but there was almost no sign of the scent on my skin.

All in all, Party Balloon Gold is an okay bubble bar, but it’s really nothing special. I wish the scent was a little different, or at least stuck around a little longer and I kinda wish it was sparkling gold throughout! It is a gorgeous looking novelty product, but there are better party exclusives to choose.
