Rosy Cheeks Fresh Face Mask

As the name suggests, this Fresh Face Mask is very much Rose based. Roses aren’t just beautiful flowers, the oil that the petals produce has numerous benefits for the skin.

Rosy Cheeks is quite a simple face mask. A blend of Rose, Calamine and Kaolin are basically the only ingredients meaning this mask is perfect for sensitive skins.

Kaolin, or China clay, is a naturally occurring porous soft clay rich in the mineral, kaolinite. Its ability to absorb moisture into itself means it is an excellent ingredient to support product formulas that are self-preserving, by hiding water within itself away from bacteria, yeasts or molds. It also absorbs the impurities from the skin making it an effective cleanser.

Calamine powder is mainly zinc oxide, a white powder, with a dash of iron oxide, combining to produce a pretty, light pink powder. It is a very gentle ingredient on the skin and has great cleansing and PH balancing qualities. However, it’s main benefit is that it’s incredibly (and gently) soothing and calming for the skin.

The main feature is of course the Rose. Rosy Cheeks contains Turkish rose in three forms. An oil, an infusion and in a clay. Roses are the Queen of Soothing and this is why this particular mask is perfect for anyone suffering with any irritation, any redness, sunburn or any sort of inflammation.

The scent of rose is used by aromatherapists to lift the mood and restore balance, Rosy Cheeks is gorgeously scented with a strong and almost powdery rose scent.

Because of it’s really smooth clay-like texture it’s easily applied to the face and immediately starts the soothing action, especially when it’s taken directly from the fridge where it’s supposed to be stored. A great thing about Rosy Cheeks is that unlike most of Lush’s other masks, it doesn’t dry out that much or become flaky at all.

I really love this mask, it makes my skin feel so good after and is beautifully mattefying once washed off. It’s great for use in the summer to help with sunburn or when you’re feeling flushed.

Fairy Dust Dusting Powder

Christmas 2015 saw the first release of this dusting powder with it’s current name, previously it had gone by the name of Candy Fluff and was a limited edition Lush Kitchen release. Obviously more suited to the Snow Fairy season, it’s been back a few times for Christmas since.

To use a dusting powder, you simply shake the bottle over the desired area and then rub it across your skin, or if you prefer you can sprinkle it into your hands first. They’re an excellent way of helping you feel less ‘oily’ after using a body lotion or massage bar, or for helping you dry off after those warm days when you’re a little too moist, or for just when you want to add a little sparkly smoothness to your life!

Basically, a dusting powder is made from super absorbent powders such as Cornflour and Sodium Bicarbonate to absorb excess moisture on the skin. It feels really lovely on when you’ve covered your body and makes you feel so baby soft. It also features a heavy amount of lustre which really glimmers when the light hits your skin, but it’s not overbearingly glittery at all. I believe it to be the perfect amount!

I know a lot of people like to sprinkle it over their bedsheets to give a long lasting aroma which will 100% still be there by morning and for a good few days too!

As you can guess with the pink label, Fairy Dust has the popular Snow Fairy scent which is made from a sweet smelling Synthetic Musk and smells of candy floss and pear drops. For some it can be a little too sweet, but for most, they go crazy over this stuff. The scent’s actually really strong in this format, meaning a little really does go a long way.

I think it’s a great novelty for Snow Fairy fans and makes the perfect stocking filler, the small bottle will last months and months so it’s really actually quite good for the money.

Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar

A Lush Halloween classic.

Not gonna lie, this product isn’t the prettiest of bubble bars. Like pumpkins themselves, these come in all different sizes, some being almost spherical while others are flatter and kinda look like they’ve been squashed. I’ve got no idea if this is deliberate but I can tell you that no Sparkly Pumpkin is the same shape as another, so who knows?

The actual bubble bar is orange coloured and is covered in bright gold lustre and fun fact – the details on the top are added using whisks! Theres also a lil cinnamon stick poked in the top to resemble a stalk.

With a complex scent made up of Juniperberry, Lime and Grapefruit Oils it’s got an interesting smell. You’d expect the Grapefruit and the Lime to give a strong zesty scent but mixed with the Juniperberry it’s more of a woody, fruity aroma that’s really suitable for autumnal baths.

Depending on the size of your Sparkly Pumpkin, you can definitely get at least two baths out of it (even from the smaller ones). Though because I’m excessive I used the whole thing and created a mountain of fluffy bubbles!

Once crumbled, Sparkly Pumpkin turns the water a warming orange colour that’s perfect on a crisp autumnal evening. Hints of glitter sparkle through the water but it’s nothing compared to the likes of Sunnyside and I can barely notice any left on my skin, so glitter-haters go wild! I literally had the best time using this, I felt so comforted and snug with my orange bubble mountain bath, my autumnal candles and an acoustic playlist. I love this season!

My skin feels somewhat softer than it was before, not as noticeable as with other bubble bars but it’s definitely a change and I can still smell the product a good few hours after which is a bonus for when you’re about to go to bed!

As such an iconic part of Lush Halloween, I really doubt they’ll discon it for next year’s release but you never know so get it while stocks last online! It’s the perfect product to get you feeling the season!
