Rehab Shampoo

I struggle a lot with finding products that will benefit my hair, so even though I’m attempting to try each and every hair product Lush do, some work for me far better than others. Rehab is quite the all rounder when it comes to targeted shampoos so it’s pretty good for everyone to use as it’s effectively cleansing, and helps to get hair back into its natural, healthy state!

Rehab contains a fair few ingredients, all of which have different benefits. To cleanse and refresh the hair, Rehab contains freshly squeezed Pineapple, Papaya, Kiwi and Mango Juices. These fruits not only contain cleansing enzymes which break down dirt and oils but they’re also full of vitamins and minerals, giving the hair the essential nutrients it needs and leaving behind a healthy shine.

Next, Rehab contains a trio of moisturising and protecting oils. Vitamin E rich Almond Oil has a conditioning effect on the hair, adding shine and softening the entire hair shaft. Olive Oil deeply nourishes and adds tensile strength to the hair, helping it to survive brushing and combing, and lastly Jojoba Oil lightly coats the hair with moisture and helps with its manageability. Rehab further contains a lot of Carrageenan Extract, which softens hair and soothes the scalp. I wouldn’t say Rehab is particularly moisturising, but these ingredients prevent it from being too drying.

Lastly, Rehab contains a few essential oils for their scalp toning properties. Lavender and Rosemary Oils are used for their balancing and soothing effects, making them ideal for any irritation on the scalp and they add shine to the hair as well. Juniperberry Oil is a great ingredient to cleanse and calm the scalp thanks to its sebum balancing effects and is soothing and very antiseptic, and Peppermint Oil stimulates the hair follicles, promoting new and healthy hair growth. The menthol it contains causes a disrupt to the hair fall cycle, prolonging the process of hair loss thereby allowing the hair to be retained within the scalp for a longer period.

In my opinion, I think Rehab is a great shampoo. It’s effectively cleansing and I really feel like my hair is so clean and refreshed whenever I use it. Not to mention it’s bright, fruity and minty scent leaves the hair smelling so fresh as well! It’s great for anyone with damaged hair, especially those prone to greasiness and works amazingly well with Retread Conditioner. I find that it really lasts you a long time, although it’s quite a thin consistency, it lathers up so well so you only need a little each time you use it.

Volcano Foot Mask

Lush have a lot of overlooked products. Products that seem nice but you’d never really try or be interested in. One of these is called Volcano, and let me tell you, that once you use this product once, you’ll love it.

I’m someone who is on my feet a lot and they are constantly hurting and feeling rough. So this product was a god send for me.

This foot mask is made up of a bundle of ingredients for intensely reviving your worn out feet. It’s a clay-like texture due to cleansing Kaolin, or China Clay being the main ingredient. We also have Limeflower and Cleaver Decoction which act as greatly soothing ingredients perfect for any irritation that might be on the skin.

Fresh Tomatoes or Potatoes might not be ingredients that you’d find in many of Lush’s products but here they work wonders. Ripe tomatoes contain many ingredients beneficial to the skin including a multitude of vitamins, which make them a useful cosmetic ingredient, particularly for the feet. The refreshing, cooling and deodorising action of fresh tomatoes makes them an ideal ingredient for Volcano. Potatoes are also great for their soothing effects. Another highly nutritious ingredient is Fresh Papaya which is rich in antioxidants and has restorative and rejuvenating effects on tired skin.

The Papaya and some other ingredients such as Lemon Oil and Cinnamon Leaf Oil are also cleansing and stimulating, getting the blood flowing back to the skin.

But perhaps the two most noticeable ingredients are Menthol Crystals and Pumice.

Menthol is the active component of mint. It has a pleasantly minty aroma and it is revitalising, stimulating, cooling and soothing for skin. It’s what gives Volcano it’s lovely tingly sensation when you’ve applied it. It’s also really effective in relieving muscle and joint pain.

Pumice is the cooled, hardened and ‘frothy’ part of volcanic lava and I’m guessing this is why this foot mask is called Volcano. It get’s its bubbly texture because when the lava solidifies, gas bubbles are sealed into the rock. It’s long been used as a powerful, natural exfoliant, especially for the feet as it’s perfect to remove hard and dry skin. When you’ve washed Volcano off, you can feel the exfoliant get to work, hopefully leaving you with perfectly polished feet.

To use a foot mask you slather about a quarter of the tub over both feet, tie a towel or plastic bag around your feet and lay back for 20 minutes allowing the mask to do its job. When you’re ready just rinse it off in the shower or bath.

My feet feel absolutely wonderful whenever I use Volcano, so soft and smooth and free of any odour and aches. It’s the perfect pick me up and it’s surely something I’ll buy time and time again.
