Sex Bomb Shower Gel

When the six new bath bomb inspired shower gels were released online, I told myself I’m only allowed to get two. So I had a big decision to make. I definitely wanted Turmeric Latte and then it was a toss up between Sex Bomb and Goddess. I decided to go with Sex Bomb because Sex Bomb Bath Bomb was one of the first bath bombs I ever tried from Lush and I was eager to try the scent in another format.

I’m a huge fan of Jasmine so the Sex Bomb scent really speaks to me. I”d describe it as very powdery and floral yet sweet and seductive. The bath bomb contains three ingredients that make up its scent. Fragrant Jasmine is an ancient aphrodisiac and has been used as a richly sensual perfume for centuries and in aromatherapy to reduce anxiety. Clary Sage has a strong herbal and green smelling aroma and is widely used for its stimulating, sensuous and evocative qualities. Ylang Ylang Oil is sweet and floral and is also considered an aphrodisiac. This bunch of ingredients are perfect to get you in the mood.

The shower gel also contains these three ingredients as it’s main scent but there’s something slightly different about its aroma. With the first sniff, I will say I was a little unsure. I think the Clary Sage is slightly stronger in this format and in the bottle there’s almost a ‘synthetic’ aroma that was slightly off putting.

Sex Bomb Shower Gel contains a couple of new ingredients too. Lush have added Fresh Passion Fruit Juice for its reviving and brightening effects on the skin. Passion Fruits are rich in vitamins A and C that greatly benefit the skin. Although Jasmine is a staple of Sex Bomb products, it’s grouped with Rose and Ginseng in an infusion of the three ingredients. Roses are known for being one of the most soothing and calming ingredients on the skin whereas Ginseng brightens skin by stimulating the circulation and carries many antioxidants too. I could also be the inclusion of these new ingredients that’s slightly altering the scent.

Sex Bomb has a very thin and runny consistency but in the shower it lathers up wonderfully and feels so soft and smooth on the skin thanks to Lush using a seaweed extract in its formula. It’s also filled with sparkling lustre which, considering the bath bomb itself isn’t sparkly, I wasn’t really expecting. Very Snow Fairy-esque.

In the shower, I was relieved to find the true Sex Bomb scent really coming out which filled my bathroom with its dreamy aroma. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better version of the smell as it’s truly perfect. I must say that the scent suits this shower gel format really well!

After I was out and dry, my skin was looking visibly brighter and feeling smooth and softened. Bring a fairly subtle and lighter scent, I wasn’t expecting it to linger for too long afterwards but I could still smell it on my skin a good couple of hours later, which was amazing. All in all, I’m very happy with this shower gel!
