Sex Bomb Shower Gel

When the six new bath bomb inspired shower gels were released online, I told myself I’m only allowed to get two. So I had a big decision to make. I definitely wanted Turmeric Latte and then it was a toss up between Sex Bomb and Goddess. I decided to go with Sex Bomb because Sex Bomb Bath Bomb was one of the first bath bombs I ever tried from Lush and I was eager to try the scent in another format.

I’m a huge fan of Jasmine so the Sex Bomb scent really speaks to me. I”d describe it as very powdery and floral yet sweet and seductive. The bath bomb contains three ingredients that make up its scent. Fragrant Jasmine is an ancient aphrodisiac and has been used as a richly sensual perfume for centuries and in aromatherapy to reduce anxiety. Clary Sage has a strong herbal and green smelling aroma and is widely used for its stimulating, sensuous and evocative qualities. Ylang Ylang Oil is sweet and floral and is also considered an aphrodisiac. This bunch of ingredients are perfect to get you in the mood.

The shower gel also contains these three ingredients as it’s main scent but there’s something slightly different about its aroma. With the first sniff, I will say I was a little unsure. I think the Clary Sage is slightly stronger in this format and in the bottle there’s almost a ‘synthetic’ aroma that was slightly off putting.

Sex Bomb Shower Gel contains a couple of new ingredients too. Lush have added Fresh Passion Fruit Juice for its reviving and brightening effects on the skin. Passion Fruits are rich in vitamins A and C that greatly benefit the skin. Although Jasmine is a staple of Sex Bomb products, it’s grouped with Rose and Ginseng in an infusion of the three ingredients. Roses are known for being one of the most soothing and calming ingredients on the skin whereas Ginseng brightens skin by stimulating the circulation and carries many antioxidants too. I could also be the inclusion of these new ingredients that’s slightly altering the scent.

Sex Bomb has a very thin and runny consistency but in the shower it lathers up wonderfully and feels so soft and smooth on the skin thanks to Lush using a seaweed extract in its formula. It’s also filled with sparkling lustre which, considering the bath bomb itself isn’t sparkly, I wasn’t really expecting. Very Snow Fairy-esque.

In the shower, I was relieved to find the true Sex Bomb scent really coming out which filled my bathroom with its dreamy aroma. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better version of the smell as it’s truly perfect. I must say that the scent suits this shower gel format really well!

After I was out and dry, my skin was looking visibly brighter and feeling smooth and softened. Bring a fairly subtle and lighter scent, I wasn’t expecting it to linger for too long afterwards but I could still smell it on my skin a good couple of hours later, which was amazing. All in all, I’m very happy with this shower gel!

The North Polar Bear Left The Tap On For The Northern Lights And Let Two Years Out In One Go Soap

This soap wins the award for the longest name of a Lush product ever. For ease, I’m just going to refer to it as ‘The North Polar Bear’.

img_0112

It seems inspired by the stories involving Father Christmas and a magical polar bear called The North Polar Bear that are told in ‘The Father Christmas Letters’ by J.R.R. Tolkien. Originally written for his children over many years, the collection of letters were published after his death.

The North Polar Bear was said to be lazy and foolish and noted for causing many accidents, which I guess is why he left the tap on…

The soap can come in two different varieties – one’s a mixture of red, yellow and orange colours and the other is blues, yellows and greens. The giant display soap that you see in stores is a mixture of all the colours, and is meant to represent the northern lights, specifically the illustration on the front cover of Tolkien’s book.

It’s a sizeable soap, one of the biggest out of all of the Christmas soaps and one that will definitely last you many, many months!

The North Polar Bear shares its scent with Sex Bomb Bath Bomb, which has a light floral and powdery aroma of Jasmine, Ylang Ylang and Clary Sage. It shows a much gentler side to the Jasmine and is nothing like the heady seductive fragrance of Lust.

However, unlike Sex Bomb, this soap also features a Lingonberry Infusion. Not an ingredient seen often in Lush products, Lingonberry helps revive the skin with antioxidant vitamins C and E.

Although it can leave you with the squeaky clean feeling like soaps often do, The North Polar Bear actually contains a high amount of Organic Rice Milk which is not only hydrating, but also soothing and helps give the lather it produces a milky consistency. It also contains Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil and conditioning Castor Oil.

I’m a big fan of this soap, there’s such a cute inspiration story behind it and it’s also about time Lush did another product in the Sex Bomb scent. A really nice new soap to add to the Christmas Range and I hope it makes a return next year.

Sex Bomb Bath Bomb

Sex Bomb, Sex Bomb, you’re my sex bomb.

Sex Bomb is a relaxing, sensual bath bomb with a concoction of Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang and Clary Sage, which is great for getting you in the mood…

Jasmine is an ancient aphrodisiac, has been used in India for centuries as a sensual perfume and also in aromatherapy to ease stress and anxiety. Ylang-Ylang gives a sweet, floral uplifting smell and Clary Sage is soothing, yet evocative and stimulating, adding to the aphrodisiac qualities of this bath bomb.

Although Jasmine is a big feature of this bath bomb, it’s really nothing like the far more heady Lust Perfume as the Sex Bomb fragrance is a lot more powdery and gentle, yet still somewhat sexy and beguiling. It’s actually a rather gentle, sweet and light floral scent.

Fun fact about Clary Sage Oil is that it actually can induce labour! It has oestrogen-regulating properties because of it’s similar structure to the hormone and many overdue women come in store just to purchase Sex Bomb to help their little one come into the world! However, because of the extremely stimulating properties, it is important that pregnant woman stay away from using Sex Bomb or other products with Clary Sage Oil until their due date.

Sex Bomb Bath Bomb also contains Soya Milk Powder which has soothing and conditioning qualities, perfect for reducing any irritation or inflammation on the skin.

When Sex Bomb is in the bath, it’s a fairly fast fizzer and slowly turns the bath water into a lovely cloudy pink colour. The rice paper rose that’s embedded on top of the bath bomb, floats around the bath once it’s released. Sadly though, the rice paper goes all soggy and loses its shape fairly quickly so I can’t help but wonder if it would be better with a real flower head perhaps?

The smell isn’t strong, it’s rather subtle once the ballistic has dissolved but it’s still nice nonetheless, every time I use Sex Bomb I definitely feel calmer and more relaxed. It also leaves the skin feeling rather smooth too which is definitely an added bonus! That and the lingering fragrance makes it perfect for the start of a romantic evening ahead…
