Hi Ho Silver Bath Bomb

Hi Ho Silver is a bath bomb that’s currently available in select stores as part of the 30th Anniversary of the bath bomb. Along with Goldrush Bath Bomb, these were designed after silver and gold respectively and are among the most glittery bath bombs Lush have ever created. Hi Ho Silver is also the name of a song by Jim Diamond, Lush love to name their products after obscure bands and songs don’t they?

Hi Ho Silver is a smallish purple bath bomb, around the same size as a Butterball. It features a silver stamp with the letters Ag on it. Ag is the symbol for silver on the periodic table which comes from the Latin ‘argentum’.

It has an strange scent, which to my nose is fairly aromatic and smokey. The bath bomb contains Olibanum, Lime and Orange Oils yet there’s not much in the aroma to suggest the latter two are there. Olibanum Oil is otherwise known as Frankincense, which is meditative and resinous in scent and is definitely at the forefront of the fragrance, with subtle citrus notes in the background. It oddly recalls memories of being in a dusty attic or walking around an old Romani gypsy museum I went to once. I’m not completely convinced I like it quite frankly.

Once popped into the water I was impressed at how strong the waft of the scent was as it started fizzing; then the real show started. The bath bomb first sent out small foamy wisps of purple into the water but before long the centre was penetrated and out poured a river of bright silver lustre. It looked like molten metal as it gushed out and snaked along the purple water in sheets, looking mesmerising.

Hi Ho Silver is actually a whopping 15% glitter so you can only imagine just how much there was. Once the bath bomb had fully dissolved, each speck of lustre looked stunning floating through the entire bath. If you’re a glitter fan then you’ll absolutely love this, if you’re not then you’ll hate it I’m afraid.

The embedded stamp decoration actually works much like a bath melt. It’s comprised of Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter and Almond Oil which melts into the water and hydrates your skin. I actually surprisingly found Hi Ho Silver to be quite moisturising thanks to this! It’s also what helps the silver lustre stick to your skin.

Throughout my bath, the scent having started fairly potent, got weaker with time and actually grew on me a lot more when it wasn’t quite as strong. I could definitely pick out the more citrusy notes too. Before long though it had vanished completely.

Once I was out of my shimmering bath I was honestly in awe of how much glitter was covering my skin. When I say covered, I mean covered. Especially in the folds and creases of my body, it was almost like a whole layer on top of my skin. Luckily I don’t mind glitter on my body but it’s a little annoying when it transfers onto your towel and then everything you ever touch again. To be honest though, I wouldn’t have expected anything less and I loved looking at my sparkling naked body in the mirror!

Along with the glitter, my skin was soft and well hydrated and there was also a gentle reminder of the scent still lingering over my body.

In conclusion, Hi Ho Silver is a MUST have if you’re a glitter king or queen like me, but be prepared for the clean up of your bath and to find glitter in strange places over the next few days. Still not 100% convinced of the scent but I enjoyed my bath even still.

I can’t wait to get my hands on Goldrush!

Star Light Star Bright Bath Melt

Star Light Star Bright is another Christmas product that’s been around for a while now, I believe it was first released way back in 2013 before vanishing and returning again! As a bath melt, it’s super moisturising for the skin, it’s super sparkly and it smells like a popular fizzy drink!

If you managed to pick one up this Christmas or have used it before then you’ll know it can be really messy! It’s covered in shiny silver glitter that will get on your fingers and everything it touches, so make sure you’re careful with yours if you don’t want it to go everywhere!

Before you use a SLSB, I recommend that you make sure your water is nice and hot, as a bath melt (and a big one at that), it needs water that’s quite warm to really get going. The colder the water is, the slower it’ll take to dissolve.

When you’ve first dropped the melt in the water, the silver glitter that covers the melt’s surface floats off to reveal the melts true colour, a white buttery base of gorgously softening Cocoa and Murumuru Butters.

As the butters melt into the water and get to work at hydrating your skin, the inner bath bomb core starts to bubble and fizz, slowly sending out streams of blue and pink into the water, turning the bath into a pale lavender colour that’s filled with the silver glitter from the coating.

To me, Star Light Star Bright really smells like Coca-Cola! Or Cola Bottles at least! I honestly can’t tell you have Lush have recreated such a similar smell from a mix of Ginger, Lavender and Lime Oils but it really works. You can definitely pick out the subtle spiciness from the Ginger and when mixed with the zesty Lime, I guess it makes something similar to the familiar scent people love!

The scent remains relatively strong whilst you’re in the tub but diminishes slightly on your skin after, however you’ll definitely notice how soft and nourished you feel! The Cocoa and Mururmuru Butters, along with added Almond Oil really sink into the skin nicely so you aren’t left feeling too oily or greasy once you’re out, just adequately moisturised.

As you can imagine, the glitter is so evident on your skin but I’m sure if you didn’t love glitter you wouldn’t have picked this product up…

Lets hope SLSB comes back next year as I feel like it’s now a Lush Christmas staple!
