Bath, Bath Bombs

Yog Nog Bath Bomb

Yog Nog Bath Bomb was originally released in 2015 for that year’s winter range and has since become available at Lush Harajuku, a bath bomb only concept store in Japan. Earlier this month, Lush released Yog Nog and a few other Harajuku exclusive bath bombs old and new online for a limited time only!

I must admit, until this year with the arrival of Yog Nog Yule Log Bubble Bar, I had never before smelt this fan favourite scent before, and boy was I missing out. It’s arguably the yummiest scent Lush have ever done and it literally smells like it’s something you should be eating, rather than something for your bath.

I honestly can’t tell you how you can mix spicy, warming Clove Bud Oil with sweet, floral Ylang Ylang Oil and get a fragrance that smells of gooey caramel, warm melted butter and indulgent toffee but this really does. It’s so delicious and moreish and envelops you like a big hug upon first whiff.

The scent is super pronounced in this version, far stronger than the bubble bar and I can still smell it on my skin a good four hours after getting out the tub, not to mention how strong the aroma in my bathroom was at the time.

Once placed in the bath, it immediately starts fizzing and frothing, sending out streams of yellows and pale whites into the water, before starting to release a thicker foam from the insides of the ballistic. Yog Nog contains Soy Bean Flour which gives the foam a wonderfully creamier consistency and makes it amazing for nourishing and soothing the skin!

The shade the water turns towards the end is an opaque, warm yellow tone very similar to the colour of melted butter!

A beautiful surprise hidden inside this bath bomb is a whole chunk of Cocoa and Shea Butters which acts in the same way as a bath oil. It floats around, well after the outer casing has fully dissolved, spreading its buttery richness into the water which in turn feels magnificent and leaves a light coating on the surface of your skin, much like the effects of Butterball or a Body Conditioner.

Honestly I think this is one of my favourite bath bombs of all time, I can’t stop smoothing and smelling my skin at the moment, it was truly a wonderful experience. Lush, please give me the opportunity to get my hands on one of these again soon!

Yog Nog Yule Log Bubble Bar

Lush released two bubble bars this festive season that are made in manufacturing as long Yule Logs – Candy Mountain and Yog Nog. Yog Nog is made in a similar fashion to a Battenberg cake, with different layers being coated in ‘icing’ and assembled together to give a checkerboard design. The log is then cut into slices to be sold in stores.

The Yog Nog scent is arguably the most delicious scent Lush have ever done. Lush products often look like food, but when they smell like food too it only makes them more tempting to eat! The Yog Nog scent smells of sweet caramel and buttery toffee and really is mouth-wateringly comforting.

The scent is made up of spicy, stimulating Clove Bud Oil, mixed with sweet Ylang Ylang Oil and a hint of Gardenia. Whilst this trio doesn’t really sound like they’re going to create a indulgent toffee smell, when you add warming and spicy Cinnamon and Nutmeg powders you can see where it comes from!

As you can probably tell, Yog Nog features a massive amount of Cocoa and Shea Butters to make it extra moisturising and softening. It’s also incredibly soothing due to the addition of both Soya Milk Powder and Soya Yoghurt which also help to give the product it’s creamy consistency.

Because this particular bar is really soft, it’s easily crumbled into the tub but you might find it’s more of a smush than a crumble. Once the water starts running, it turns a creamy yellow colour as it mixes with the bubble bar. Because of the butter content, Yog Nog doesn’t actually bubble up that much but the bubbles it does produce are supremely soft. Once the bath is filled, the colour is very pale but the scent is very much still prevalent throughout, helping you enjoy a beautifully luxurious soak.

I feel no need to moisturise/use a body lotion after using this bar, as my skin is more than adequately conditioned, it’s so smooth and soft and the scent seems to stick around too!

I’m so thankful Lush have decided to revive this delightful scent and I hope that more Yog Nog products are released in the future! I’ll definitely be getting my hands on the Yog Nog Bath Bomb that’s currently available online as part of the Community Favourites and I cannot wait!
